Leaving Mazatlan - 12/15/98

We hope to leave Mazatlan today or maybe tomorrow.  We won´t have email access for a few weeks, so let us say to all of you:

¡Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año Nuevo!

I (Ellen) found some English Christmas CD´s yesterday.  Very strange -- they keep singing about Jack Frost nipping at you nose, snowmen, and people dressed up like eskimos.  Huh, we´re wearing shorts and trying to find some shade to sit under.  It´s pretty weird to be listening to Christmas carols while sweating under our awning.

I have a new toy.  It´s called a wrist brace.  I took a fall in Cabo (the land of obstacle course sidewalks and streets) and hit my right arm pretty hard.  I thought it would heal on its own and it did seem to, but then started hurting again.  I had a doctor look at it here in Mazatlan.  He said the fall most likely caused a fissure in my arm bone, which healed on its own, but that the tendons were now inflamed since they had never been rested.  So now I have a most impressive wrist brace and I´m taking anti-inflamatories for 15 days: quince dias.   ¨Quince dias or quesadillas¨ asked someone.  Ha Ha.  I´d rather eat quesadillas than wear this for quince dias.

We´re headed toward Zihuataneo from here and then we will slowly work our way north into the Sea of Cortez.  That´s our plan as of now -- always subject to change of course.  We´ve been eating great food here in Mexico. This is for our friend Kevin in Oregon: yummy! yummy!! yummy!!!
